Back in 2016, Nightdive Studios made a Kickstarter for a remake of the cult classic RPG, System Shock. While the project was successful in its own right; the ambitions of the development team grew to the point where they lost track of what made System Shock great. Unfortunately, the development team had to start from scratch.
This shift in focus ended up becoming the right choice for Nightdive Studios. Especially because a new System Shock Remake trailer was revealed recently. This trailer is actually something that actually managed to make fans happy and look forward to the finished product. In fact, it seems like System Shock Remake is more faithful to the original game than ever.
The New System Shock Trailer is Beloved by Fans
The video is around 2 minutes in total; it showcases the gameplay of the Pre-Alpha version of the game. Not only that, but it also showcases Nightdive’s shift in the artistic direction of the game. This version of the game stays true to the original game as much as possible. With this, a lot of fans are now saying that this is the remake they were hoping for.
“We wanted to create a small preview of the final art as there was some confusion due to our previous video of the Adventure Alpha containing only placeholders.” The development team said in the description of the video. In addition, they have promised that more videos will come in the future showcasing other elements like combat.
A lot of players definitely love the shift in focus on Nightdive’s System Shock Remake. Although, only time will tell if the game lives up to the expectations of the fans once the beta comes up. However, both Nightdive Studios and System Shock fans have high hopes for the future of the project.
