The latest Battlefield 5 update is now available, the second to come in January following the one which launched alongside the start of Lightning Strikes. This update brings a host of new changes and tweaks, but also brings some new content to the game. The most significant of these? The Sturmgeschutz IV, a new Axis tank.
The Sturmgeschutz IV is Now Available in New Battlefield 5 Update
DICE released the full patch notes for the latest Battlefield 5 update earlier today. These detail plenty of alterations which have been made by the developers, especially to the Practice Range mode and Panzerstorm map. However, what draws the most attention is the fact that the update is bringing a totally new vehicle to the game; the Sturmgeschutz IV. This new tank is available to the Axis forces in-game. To unlock it, you’ll need to complete a Weekly Challenge in the third event of Lightning Strikes. Appropriately, this is the “Iron Skin” event, which is the only single-week event during Lightning Strikes.
“The Sturmgeschutz IV – an Axis tank (or assault gun, technically),” explains DICE; “well equipped for self-defence, with a top gunner position and a remotely controlled machinegun turret that can be operated safely from within the tank. Unlock the Sturmgeschutz IV by completing the Weekly Challenge of the third Chapter Event of Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes.”
With changes in place to the Panzerstorm map, the map most suited to tank combat; it seems the perfect time to test out this new war machine. For now, the only way to unlock the tank is to complete the Week 5 Weekly Challenge. DICE have set in the past that Weekly Challenge rewards could become available through other means at a later date, but there’s no telling how long you might have to wait. As such, unlocking it now is the best way to ensure you’ll have it available in the future.
