In many regions of the world, gamers can purchase FIFA 19 points to use for purchases in the game. A recent statement from EA Sports indicates that gamers in Belgium won’t be able to buy those points any longer. That shuts down microtransactions for at least one part of the world. However, it seems EA Sports may still be looking into a way to get things straightened out.
EA releases FIFA 19 Points statement for Belgium
EA recently released a lengthy statement to Belgium gamers. In just a few days they’ll no longer be using FIFA 19 Points. This has been an ongoing debate for quite some time in terms of the legality of using points in Belgium. FIFA 19 coins distribution has also been a hot topic in Ultimate Team.
As EA mentions in their statement, their big decision came after discussions with Belgium authorities. Once the points usage ends, Belgium gamers can’t use them for FIFA Ultimate Team packs anymore. Luckily, it will only affect points and not other FUT aspects.

EA said in their official statement:
“All content in the game can be earned through gameplay, as has always been the case, and players can continue to use coins and the in-game transfer market. Any players in Belgium that have existing FIFA Points in their accounts can continue to use them, but they will not be able to purchase more.”
EA apologized for the inconvenience, saying they don’t necessarily agree with the “Belgian authorities’ interpretation of the law.” EA further indicated they’ll “continue to seek more clarity on the matter as we go forward.”
The official end date for gamers in Belgium to use points will be Thursday (Jan. 31). The good news is that coins and the in-game transfer market are still available for FUT in Belgium. Also, gamers won’t lose any of their existing FIFA Ultimate Team content.
