Earlier this month, DICE launched Lightning Strikes, the second chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War. One of the first new pieces of content coming with that event was the Squad Conquest game mode; a miniature variant of the traditional Conquest mode which pits two teams of eight players against one another on one of three smaller variant maps. However, the Battlefield 5 Squad Conquest mode isn’t a permanent addition. In fact, it’s only available for one more day.
The Battlefield 5 Squad Conquest Mode is Available for Just One More Day
The Battlefield 5 Squad Conquest mode is one of three new game modes coming during the course of Lightning Strikes, along with Combined Arms and Rush. Of these, only Combined Arms is a permanent addition. Squad Conquest and Rush, on the other hand, are only available for two weeks each, aligning with two of Lightning Strikes’ five Chapter Events. Squad Conquest is the focus of the ‘A Few Good Soldiers‘ event, which comes to an end on the 30th of January. As such, that will be the last day when Squad Conquest will be available. Rush will be available during the ‘Unstoppable Force’ event, which will take place through Lightning Strikes’ eighth and ninth weeks.
Squad Conquest is a smaller variant of the Conquest game mode which reduces the team sizes down to just two squads each. The mode significantly reduced the number of vehicles too, and is available on three map variants; smaller versions of the Rotterdam, Arras, and Hamada maps.
According to DICE, Squad Conquest and Rush could eventually return to Battlefield 5. The reason that the modes are only available for two weeks each is so that DICE can gauge the reaction of players and consider whether the modes are worth bringing in a more permanent manner. So, if Battlefield 5 players play either mode a lot, they could eventually come back as long-term features. However, for now at least, players have one final day to enjoy Squad Conquest before it gets removed.
