Lightning Strikes, the second chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War, is currently underway, and the first of its five planned events is drawing to a close. ‘A Few Good Soldiers,’ spanned the first two weeks of Lightning Strikes; giving players a chance to play the new Squad Conquest game mode. Today, that game mode will no longer be available. However, the second Battlefield 5 Chapter Event of Lightning Strikes will begin tomorrow; ‘Hold the Line.’
The Next Battlefield 5 Chapter Event; ‘Hold the Line’
The second Battlefield 5 Chapter Event of Lightning Strikes will begin tomorrow, on the 31st of January, and conclude on the 13th of February. Like ‘A Few Good Soldiers,’ the event will include two new Weekly Challenges, offering new rewards and a chance to earn extra Chapter XP. Those rewards are a new Support class weapon, the M1922 MMG, and a new outfit piece; the Final Countdown headgear.
The first week of ‘Hold the Line’ focuses on the game mode Breakthrough. As such, the Weekly Challenge features a whole host of Breakthrough-themed objectives. This will be the challenge where you can get the new Final Countdown headgear. On the other hand, the second week of the event changes focus to the Frontlines game mode. Completing the Weekly Challenge in that week will get you the new Medium Machine Gun. Although neither game mode is new, like the Squad Conquest mode was, players can look forward to plenty of new content coming soon.
The Lightning Strikes chapter of Tides of War still has two new game modes scheduled for release. Combined Arms will be coming in February, and is a major new PvE cooperative mode. Rush will also be making a return to the Battlefield series during the chapter’s final event. Although Combined Arms is a permanent addition to the game, Rush will be more like Squad Conquest and will only be available for two weeks. DICE has said that if either of the two modes are well-received by fans, then they could become permanent additions at a later date, however.
