Nintendo Sets Release Windows For Fire Emblem, Pokémon, And More

Several release windows for the most highly anticipated Switch exclusives have been released by Nintendo courtesy of their latest financial report. As the Japanese gaming titan leaves 2018 with the best selling console of the year, they seem to be headed into the new year swinging for the fences. Some of the timelines announced are a pleasant surprise, while others are more predictably vague.

Nintendo Prepares For Another Big Year

While no surprise titles grace this list, there is still a decent amount to be discovered. If nothing else though this serves as the confirmation many fans needed that the titles they’re looking forward to are still well on their way. The following list contains the entirety of what was gleaned from the report.

  • Yoshi’s Crafted World – 29th March, 2019
  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses – Spring 2019
  • Pokémon RPG for Nintendo Switch – Late 2019
  • Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch – 2019
  • Luigi’s Mansion 3 – 2019
  • DAEMON X MACHINA – 2019
  • Dragon Quest Builders 2 – 2019
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order – 2019
  • Bayonetta 3 – TBA
  • Metroid Prime 4 – TBA

The most notable announcements above are that of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and the next mainline Pokémon game. These may be loose release windows, but this is more information that Nintendo has released about the previously announced titles before now. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and Animal Crossing are still seemingly on track to release in 2019, giving fans hope that more information will be released over the coming months.

Metroid Prime 4’s development cycle has been completely restarted from scratch, as recently announced by head of development Shinya Takahashi in a video addressing the matter. While it is disappointing that the title won’t be seen any time soon, industry reception has been generally warm regarding the decision, as well as Nintendo’s candid nature in handling the situation. Its place on this list as an unknown entity is no surprise following the stalled development.

Over the course of the coming months, it is expected that Nintendo will release more information on its upcoming titles. As the company finally bounces back from the disastrous Wii U, it’s exciting to consider what they will continue to bring to the industry.
