We are pleased to share with you that the voice chat company Vivox is now allowing the possibility of in-game Switch voice chat for all Nintendo Switch games. This news was sent out today in a press release from Vivox. Best known for providing voice chat for Fortnite, all Switch developers can now use the service. This allows for voice chat in Switch games without the app.
Of course, this news doesn’t mean that all games will suddenly have Switch voice chat. This is something that each developer will have to integrate. What’s great, though, is that Vivox is available to all Nintendo Switch developers for free right now. All developers need to do is reach to the company through the Nintendo developer portal.

This will allow developers to download and integrate the Vivox SDK. Vivox will allow players to chat with other players using a headset plugged directly into the console. In fact, as we mentioned, it’s already available right now in Fortnite on Switch. In addition, both Smite and Paladins will be receiving the service in upcoming updates.
Currently, other than Fortnite, most games on Switch require the online app for chatting with other players. However, Vivox will solve this problem by integrating it right into games. The only thing that players have to wait for now is for Nintendo Switch developers to start incorporating the software into games. If you have a game you want voice chat in, reach out to the developers.
We hope that this Switch voice chat service will allow for chatting in popular online games like Arena of Valor, Lightseekers, and Rocket League. We will have to wait and see, though. For future news regarding developers integrating the Vivox SDK into Switch games, be sure to keep an eye right here on VGR.
