Women seem to play a big role in the upcoming Battlefield title, as they can be seen in almost all trailers, screenshots teasers etc. Days after the controversy about their existense in the game, DICE GM reveals that Battlefield V Female Characters “are here to stay”.
In a series of Twitter posts, DICE GM Oskar Gabrielson, has addressed the matter upsetting Battlefield fans, which think that the existence of Battlefield V Female Characters is not historically accurate, by saying the following:
“First, let me be clear about one thing. Player choice and female playable characters are here to stay”
“We want Battlefield V to represent all those who were a part of the greatest drama in human history, and give players choice to choose and customize the characters they play with.”
“Our commitment as a studio is to do everything we can to create games that are inclusive and diverse. We always set out to push boundaries and deliver unexpected experiences. But above all, our games must be fun!”
“The Battlefield sandbox has always been about playing the way you want. Like attempting to fit three players on a galloping horse, with flamethrowers. With BFV you also get the chance to play as who you want. This is #everyonesbattlefield.”
Funny thing is, that Battlefield 1 also featured a female protagonist in one of its war stories and that felt completely fine. You could also play as a female soldier in the In The Name of the Csar DLC in Battlefield 1.
For what it’s worth, we’ll know to what lengths the use of Battlefield V Female Characters will go when the game finally releases in October. Everything we’ve seen so far looks legit and accurate, however, we hope that DICE will stay true to the facts and deliver a great game like its predecessor.
