One of the core new features of Far Cry 5 was the Guns-for-Hire system. This system allowed players to recruit a roster of NPC companions and summon them in-game, with both human and animal options. It will be returning in the latest instalment, and the roster of Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire includes eight characters. (Including 2 ‘Fangs-for-Hire’; Horatio and Timber.) With Hurk and Pastor Jerome returning from Far Cry 5 as Guns-for-Hire, the remaining four companions are all new faces (or masks, in the case of The Judge). One of these is Gina Guerra, a former member of the Highwaymen, the enemy faction in Far Cry New Dawn.
The Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire: Gina Guerra, the Heavy Gunner
Gina Guerra’s role in Far Cry New Dawn is that of ‘Heavy Gunner’. This is actually a completely new archetype for the Guns-for-Hire system. For example, Hurk is returning with the ‘RPG’ archetype, and the Judge takes the ‘Hunter’ archetype which was Jess Black’s in Far Cry 5. Sharky Boshaw, whom Gina is apparently a known associate of, was a Gun-for-Hire with the ‘Heavy Flamer’ archetype in the previous game. However, there was no ‘Heavy Gunner.’ Similarly, Pastor Jerome has the new ‘Berserker’ archetype.
Fitting with the title, it seems that Gina Guerra will make use of powerful machine guns. Like Hurk and Pastor Jerome, her first ability is actually a vehicle which she will presumably spawn with. While the former spawns with an ATV and the latter brings a Motorbike, Gina comes with an Armed Car which features a mounted machine gun. Her second ability is ‘Who’s Counting’ which gives her unlimited ammunition. Her final ability is ‘Overload’ which allows her to use powerful explosive ammunition.
It’s currently unknown what Gina’s role will be in the story of Far Cry New Dawn. However, as a former Highwaymen, it’s likely that she’ll have some insights about the Twins and their subordinates. As a ‘known associate’ of Sharky; she may also play a role in the story of Sharky, Hurk, and Hurk’s young son Blade.
