Rage 2 publisher Bethesda has posted an impressive new gameplay video for the upcoming sequel. The video shows off 10 whole minutes of the sequel’s frantic gunplay, impressive-looking character powers, and dangerous enemy-infested open world.
Rage 2 Pre-Beta Gameplay Video
Unsurprisingly, most of the video focuses on what players will be doing the most: shooting and blowing up bad guys. Players can mix and match different firearms and character powers to kill their enemies in stylish (and brutal) fashion. Some of the character powers shown in the trailer include a bullet-blocking energy wall and a deployable gravitational field. The trailer also shows the player acquiring a brand new power called Slam. True to its name, Slam allows players to punch their fist into the ground to generate powerful 360-degree shockwaves.
A large portion of the trailer is also devoted to showing how Rage 2’s outpost assaults work. When the player finds an enemy outpost, they can attack it directly to clear out the local hostile forces. Completing an outpost assault also awards loot so there’s plenty of incentive to brave the belly of the beast.
After finishing up with the outpost, the player then departs on a new hover bike-esque vehicle. This vehicle makes navigating Rage 2’s wasteland a breeze, though it doesn’t look quite as durable as the default car.
Towards the end of the video, the player shifts over to the game’s swampland region where they encounter enemy convoys. And what proper gameplay video wouldn’t include a tense junkyard mech fight to close out on? In short, Rage 2 looks like it will be all sorts of crazy fun when it launches on May 14.
Bethesda says it will be sharing more gameplay footage over the coming weeks so fans should stay tuned. The above video’s ‘pre-beta’ nomenclature is also worth noting. Even though Rage 2 is a purely single-player affair, developer id Software could be planning some sort of pre-release beta. There’s nothing to go on just yet but we’ll keep an eye out for more details.
