As with previous entries in the Metro series, Metro Exodus features two endings; a “good” ending, and a “bad” ending. If you want to get the Metro Exodus good ending, you need to complete a variety of objectives during the game. Primarily, these revolve around avoiding harming several groups of human enemies. Completing the good ending also ties in directly with the Full Strength trophy.
How to Get the Metro Exodus Good Ending
Getting the Metro Exodus good ending can be a bit difficult, especially if you’re new to the Metro series, as the game doesn’t give you much indication of what to do to get it. Essentially, wherever possible, you should avoid harming humans. Additionally, you should go out of your way to complete side missions that help people. The requisite steps to get the good ending can be completed in the Volga, the Caspian, and the Taiga regions.
The Volga: Your primary objective in the Volga, as in the other areas, is to complete the Full Strength trophy. You’ll get this trophy if you avoid Duke’s death, Damir’s departure, and Alyosha’s wound; three things you must prevent to get the good ending. In the Volga, you need to avoid harming any members of the Tsar-Fish cult. Use stealth and nonlethal take-downs to avoid any encounters with them. This will ensure that Duke isn’t killed at the end of the section. While you’re in the Volga, you will also receive two side missions; to recover a guitar for Stepan, and to recover a Teddy Bear. Make sure that you complete both of these before you leave.
The Caspian: Just as with the Volga, you need to make sure you don’t harm humans from a certain faction. In this case, you mustn’t harm the Munai-Bailer slaves. The slavers themselves can be killed, but a nonlethal stealth approach is ideal, as it can be difficult to tell slavers and slave warriors apart. You also need to recover the photograph of Giul’s mother in the lighthouse bunker, and rescue slaves from captivity in two camps; the slaver oasis camp, and the shipwreck camp side mission. If you avoid harming any slaves, rescue the captive slaves, and retrieve the photo, Damir won’t leave the group.
The Taiga: The final challenge to get the good ending is to avoid killing any members of the Pioneers in the Taiga region. Once again, use stealth and nonlethal takedowns. Unlike previous areas, you don’t need to do any extra side-missions here. If you avoid harming any Pioneers, Alyosha won’t be wounded when you leave.
If you complete all of these objectives, you should get the Metro Exodus good ending.
