Enterprising Player Creates Lethal Fallout 76 Deathclaw Maze

The Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. system is one of the most significant new additions in the latest Fallout title; an evolution of the base-building mechanics found in Fallout 4. With enough resources, plans, and vision, players have been able to make some truly impressive structures as their C.A.M.P. The latest example of this comes from a player who goes by ‘Vault101manguy,’ who built a lethal Fallout 76 Deathclaw maze to lure unsuspecting players into!

The Fallout 76 Deathclaw Maze

“What better introduction to the wasteland than a man in a bathrobe and a top hat trying to lure you into a self-built murder maze with a deathclaw in it,” says Vault101manguy; “Don’t trust a man in slippers and Appalachia is full of lunatics. Welcome to West Virginia.”

Vault101manguy posted a video on YouTube of their impressive Fallout 76 Deathclaw maze in action; all to the jaunty tune of ‘Almost Heaven’. They also made a post on Reddit explaining exactly how they built the maze… and put a Deathclaw in it. The player has made a few traps like this before, but this one is a little different in that they use a creature to do their dirty work. The clever thing is that he uses players own fears to trigger the trap.

“The people in the video likely couldn’t tell at the time,” he explains; “but tame-ables function on the same player damage rules as players, so they are only doing slap damage unless the player is either wanted or has reciprocated PvP. But that is really hard to think about when you’re unexpectedly faced with a deathclaw that is chasing you through a locked maze.”

Essentially, because the deathclaw was tamed by Vault101manguy, the normal PvP rules applied to it. As such, it does almost no damage to players unless they actually initiate PvP. The player notes that nobody in their video actually dies, due to this very fact. The maze was certainly a labour of love, nevertheless. Apparently, it took them 2-3 days hopping from server to server just to find a deathclaw. Plus, several of their early deathclaws were killed by higher-level players they happened to run into while leading it to the maze.
