Destiny 2: How to Complete Tier 2 of The Reckoning

Destiny 2’s new Reckoning PvE activity includes three scaling levels of difficulty. Mastering these higher difficulty tiers is required if you want to unlock better Gambit Prime armor sets. As of this writing, difficulty tier 2 of The Reckoning is available to players looking for a greater challenge. We already covered the default difficulty tier, but in this guide we’ll outline how tier 2 ups the ante.

Destiny 2 The Reckoning Tier 2 Difficulty

Destiny 2 The Reckoning tier 2

The Reckoning’s tier 2 difficulty bumps up the recommended power level from 650 to 670. The tier 2 matches themselves, however, mostly operate in the same manner as tier 1 matches (only with tougher enemies). You still have to slay waves of Taken enemies to build up a ‘Dominance’ meter before time expires. However, once you’ve filled up the Dominance meter things take a bit of a turn.

With the Dominance meter full you’ll notice a door opening into a new bridge area. In the new bridge area you have to stand on large circles and build their charge up to 100 percent. There are six circles in total and you’ll have to keep fighting enemies as you charge each of them. With all six circles charged you’ll unlock a third room containing a boss encounter.

The boss encounter pits you against two Ascendant Knights and a unique enemy called The Hermit. Players in the boss room are hit by a debuff which lowers their damage output. To “regain their light” and restore their damage potential, players must find and slay The Hermit. The Hermit is found in one of the four corners of the larger arena. He has a glowing blue icon over his head which makes him easier to spot.

Slay The Hermit and the two Ascendant Knights, and you’ll finish The Reckoning’s tier 2 difficulty. If you wagered a tier 2 synthesized Mote, you can claim a more powerful piece of Gambit Prime armor.

Stay tuned as The Reckoning’s tier 3 difficulty unlocks in just a few days on March 15. We’ll be sure to cover how the third and final difficulty tier ups the challenge even further.
