Monster Hunter World Adds the Empress of Flame Lunastra

Capcom has revealed that a new free update is coming to Monster Hunter World later today that will add the Empress of Flame Lunastra Elder Dragon to the game. Players will have the opportunity to take down this new Elder Dragon with this new update for the game. Lunastra is the third post-release Elder Dragon to pop up as a challenge after Deviljho and Kulve Taroth.

The Monster Hunter World update was detailed on the official Capcom Unity blog, detailing Lunastra’s arrival in the game. It seems that the success of the Fifth Fleet has led to a boom in the bioenergy of the New World, resulting in the Empress of Flame Lunastra appearing in order to “reclaim her throne” among the Elder Dragons.

The Empress of Flame Lunastra arrives in Monster Hunter World with new tricks and unique abilities to challenge even the most seasoned hunters. Not only is she more aggressive than her male companion Teostra, but her capacity to alter the environment around her is unmatched. Stay awake and alert to her burning blue fire at all times if you want to survive.

Teamwork is a powerful tool to conquer any foe in Monster Hunter, however, hunters beware, Lunastra has learned this lesson as well. With the ability to fight alongside her mate Teostra and bond with him for devastating attacks, you’ll want to get a full hunting party stocked up on Lifepowders if you want to stand a chance against this power couple.

Of course, with the addition of the Empress of Flame Lunastra Elder Dragon, comes a ton of new materials and gear to collect and craft. Interestingly enough, the Lunastra materials seem to resonate well with the Nergigante and Xeno’jiiva materials so there is room for some experiments with the Smithy.

Lastly, there are hints of even greater challenges ahead than Lunastra herself. There are hints of an even more powerful version of the Tempered Elder Dragons called Arch-Tempered Elder Dragons that will be coming soon. In the meantime, you can get the latest Monster Hunter World Lunastra update later today at 5:00 pm PT.
