How to Get A Refund in Fortnite

Not long ago, Epic Games introduced a special refund feature in Fortnite, and then swiftly took it away not long after that. Now, Fortnite’s beloved refund system has returned with the v4.3 patch as of today, meaning you’ll be able to get your money back if you decide you’ve purchased something that’s just not working out for you. This way, you can start getting that cold, hard cash back from when you make purchases you instantly regret.

Originally, refunds were taken out of the game due to technical issues so hopefully they won’t end up with the same fate as the earlier system. The only thing is, it’s a little harder to figure out how to get said refunds if you don’t know where to look. We’re here to help, so read on to find out how you can get refunds on cosmetic items you may have changed your mind on.

How to Get a Refund in Fortnite

  • Go to the main lobby screen in any version of the game and click on the three bars at the upper right-hand corner of the screen. When the menu appears, click on the image of a gear.
  • You should now be in the “settings” menu. Find the image of a silhouette at the right to look at your account settings. Scan this area for the “unintentional purchases” section.
  • From here, choose the item that you’d like a refund for. Then press the “submit” button. You’ll be asked for a reason, which you can provide, but don’t stress too much over what you offer when you close out the ticket. You only get three different refunds per account, however, so make sure you use your three “strikes” wisely. That’s about it! You’re done!

Of course, keep in mind that you can only use the refund feature on cosmetic items that are non-consumable. That includes emotes, pickaxes, gliders, outfits, and other similar items. You can’t just buy a Battle Pass or any of its tiers and get your money back.

You also don’t get cash, you get V-bucks instead that you can spend online via your Fortnite account. The three-item limit will help keep players honest and keep those who might want to abuse the system from doing so.

Happy refunding!
