We Happy Few’s first paid DLC expansion, They Came from Below, is now officially available on all platforms. The expansion stars Roger Bacon in a brand new side adventure featuring a hostile robot invasion of Wellington Wells. They Came from Below is available as both a standalone purchase and via We Happy Few’s season pass.
We Happy Few They Came from Below DLC Expansion
In They Came from Below, Dr. Faraday has been sucked through a mysterious inter-dimensional portal. Worse, hostile robots have started pouring through the portal and terrorizing Wellington Wells’ citizens. Players take on the role of Dr. Faraday’s hapless assistant, Roger Bacon, as he tries to survive the robot invasion. Working alongside Roger’s boyfriend James, players get to explore a massive underground lab, wield new weaponry, and face new foes.
According to its announcement press release, They Came from Below offers the most refined We Happy Few experience to date. Players can bring weapons like the transforming ray gun and chronobomb to bear against the deadly robots. They can also solve new puzzles and, if they survive until the end, face a brand new boss enemy. To help streamline the DLC adventure even more, survival, Joy, and crafting mechanics have also been removed.
Those who don’t own We Happy Few’s $19.99 season pass can purchase They Came from Below for $7.99. They Came from Below also follows closely on the heels of the game’s 1.7 update. The update added in several free bonus modes of its own, including Arcade and Sandbox experiences.
Despite a rough initial launch, We Happy Few has slowly improved over the past several months. As Compulsion previously outlined, the game’s season pass contains a total of three paid DLC expansions. They Came from Below is just the first of those three expansions.
The next two expansions will be called Lightbearer and We All Fall Down respectively. Neither of the latter two expansions has a release window as of this writing. However, chances are Compulsion plans on releasing them within the scope of 2019.
