On Sunday, millions of professional wrestling fans were anticipating the latest WWE WrestleMania 35 matches and results. As the big pay-per-view was set to take place in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the WWE 2K19 Tournament Turmoil semifinals also took place. After 2K19’s Tournament started with 64 superstars from NXT, Raw, SmackDown and the Legends, it’s down to just two competitors. Here’s a look at who won the semifinals matchups and what superstars will go head-to-head in the final matchup.
WWE 2K19 Tournament Turmoil results: Montez Ford vs. Braun Strowman
The winners of the NXT and Raw brand regions would face off first for a spot in the finals. The “Cinderella Story” of the tournament bracket was Montez Ford of Street Profits who emerged as winner in the NXT region. He emerged as the winner past the likes of former NXT Champ Aleister Black and Rowe of War Raiders to get into the Final Four. Unfortunately, he’d be up against none other than “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman. The two would have their match in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Royal Rumble arena.
Ford was able to get Braun down and had the advantage but when he went for the Frogsplash off the corner, Braun got knees up. Things spilled to the outside with the ref counting before Ford tossed Braun back in. He withstood Ford’s attack back in the ring and hit a counter before scooping him up for a big power slam to win by pinfall.
WWE 2K19 Tournament Turmoil results: Bret Hart vs. Golden AJ Styles
The second semifinals match would pit WWE Legends region winner Bret “The Hitman” Hart against the Golden AJ Styles from WWE 2K19 Million Dollar Challenge. The Hitman was amongst recent WWE Hall of Fame inductees as part of the Hart Foundation. He also defeated Goldberg, making him tap to a Sharpshooter to get here. Golden AJ Styles was the final “boss” or superstar in the Million Dollar Tower for gamers to defeat. In this situation, he defeated Kevin Owens in 2K19’s Tournament Turmoil SmackDown region.
The two competitors went head-to-head in Brooklyn, New York where SummerSlam took place. They also put on a classic match which spanned well over 15 minutes before a winner was ultimately decided. That winner was AJ Styles’ golden version from the WWE 2K19 video game. The shiny superstar outlasted Hitman and eventually hit a Calf Crusher before pinning Bret. Golden AJ moves on to battle Braun Strowman in Monday’s WWE 2K19 Tournament Turmoil finals.
It’s only fitting that the two WWE 2K19 finalists also were winners on the “Grandest Stage of Them All,” aka WrestleMania 35. Braun Strowman was able to throw multiple superstars out of the ring to win this year’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Meanwhile, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated “The Viper” Randy Orton in a feud match as part of the PPV card.
With our initial prediction, we had Golden AJ winning this tournament, so we’ll find out Monday if he’s got what it takes to withstand the Monster Among Men!
