You read that right, the PSN ID Change feature is finally available for all players on PS4 right now. After years and years of waiting for this change, we are proud to announce that you are able to change your username for the first time in PlayStation history. This comes after long rumors regarding the feature and after Sony decided not to do a PSX last year.
If you are reading this right now, you are able to head to your account settings on PlayStation and access the PSN ID Change feature. What’s great is that you are allowed one free change of your username on PS4 so you can finally get rid of that embarrassing YourMama69 or whatever username from when you were a teenager.
However, there are some caveats, of course, as you would expect. For instance, while the first PSN ID Change is free for everyone, it will cost you money later on. The cost for each name change after your first one will be $9.99 USD for normal PS4 users while it will be $4.99 for PlayStation Plus owners. That’s not steep, especially everyone gets a free one so think hard and pick something you like.
You definitely don’t have to pick your PSN ID Change right now so feel free to take your time and pick something you really like. Beyond the actual cost, there are some other issues with the name change. For instance, your old username may be displayed next to your new one for the next 30 days after changing to help your friends adjust.
In addition, there are certain games that may have issues due to you using the PSN ID Change feature. There are certain games like the original Dragon Quest Builders that have been proven to have some problems with these changes. As such, be wary of what older games you play after changing and be absolutely sure you want to change it before doing so.
