We regret to inform fans of Sony Santa Monica’s beloved Game of the Year-winning 2018 game but there is no God of War DLC coming. At least, right now. Cory Barlog, mastermind behind the award-winning title, let players know recently that no DLC will be coming to it soon. This is despite the fact that the one-year anniversary for the game is coming up soon.
In addition, this is unfortunate considering that God of War has been both a commercial and critical success for Sony. However, just because no God of War DLC is on the way, doesn’t mean that fans don’t have something to look forward to. In celebration of the game’s launch a year ago, Sony is releasing some nice freebies to tie fans over until a sequel is formally announced.
There are two nice goodies being given out to players soon. The first is an avatar set for PlayStation users that give you some nice characters from the game to use as your avatar in your online profile. This is great if you want to show off your love for the title to strangers and your PS4 friends. The second freebie is an awesome new theme for PS4.
This dynamic theme shows Kratos and Atreus in their boat on the Lake of the Nine. It is a pretty darn awesome theme and the best part is it’s totally free for everyone. In addition, it’s available right now if you’re reading this. As for the avatar set, you’ll have to wait a couple of more days for it. It releases on April 17, 2019.
It is likely that no real God of War DLC is happening because the team is probably hard at work on a sequel to the Game of the Year title. We wouldn’t be surprised if the sequel comes out fairly soon (as in next year) and it would also make sense as an early PlayStation 5 game. For now, though, we’ll have to wait until Sony is ready to talk about it.
