Latest Apex Legends Patch Adjusts Hitboxes and Adds Perks

The latest Apex Legends patch has now been rolled out to all platforms, and it brings with it a number of interesting changes. Most interestingly, Respawn has made several adjustments to Pathfinder’s hitbox; in order to make it fit the character model better. The update also adds a new ‘Fortified’ perk to both Caustic and Gibraltar.

New Apex Legends Patch Features Hitbox Changes and More

As many Apex Legends players have found lately, all three of the larger characters (Caustic, Gibraltar and Pathfinder) have been at a disadvantage due to their hitbox sizes. In response to this, Respawn looked at altering the characters’ hitboxes. However, only Pathfinder has actually gotten such an adjustment; “For Pathfinder, this change worked very well,” reads the patch notes; “However, after looking at the data and player feedback, Gibraltar and Caustic only improved slightly with the hitbox adjustments.”

Apex Legends Patch Adds Perks and Hitbox Changes

As such, this latest patch introduces a new perk to both Caustic and Gibraltar’s passive ability; “Fortified”. This perk reduces all damage which the characters take by 10%, effectively countering the disadvantage of their larger hitboxes. Of course, this change is still open to adjustment; “Over the week or two following this change,” continues the patch notes; “we will be watching how they perform with this additional protection and aggressively tune it if they are still underpowered relative to their size. Our goal is to ensure both Legends are viable picks by the end of this process.”

Both characters have also gotten some additional buffs elsewhere. Caustic’s gas damage per tick has gone up from 1 to 4, while Gibraltar’s gun shield health has gone up from 50 to 75. Additionally, the update makes a wide variety of weapon balancing adjustments and increases jump ship speed by 50%; “We felt that the ship was moving a bit too slow after watching player behaviour so we’re speeding it up so players that like to drop later in the flight path don’t have to wait so long.”
