In the time since God of War launched back in April, players have found several hidden secrets in the game. Santa Monica Studio’s latest title is packed full of Hidden Treasures and collectibles. However, some of its Easter eggs have been fiendishly well concealed. In a recent interview, however, the game’s creative director gave out a particularly juicy piece of information; that there is at least one secret which nobody has found yet.
Speaking in an interview with GamingBolt, Cory Barlog, God of War’s director, said the following: “I still think there is one thing that no one has found yet that I know for certain”. Barlog compared keeping this secret to the nuclear disarmament ending of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; “… I haven’t seen any stories about it. Now I’m not going to tell you what that is, but I don’t know if there’s any cinematics per se, it seems like people have been able to get all the permutations. Not one person, but everyone collectively.”
God of War’s Major Secrets
Since the release of God of War, several Easter eggs have been discovered by fans. While the Infinity Gauntlet Easter egg is relatively easy to find, it took players some time to track down the locations of all of its associated “infinity stones”. Similarly, the Ratatoskr Easter egg didn’t require much legwork, it just required players to stumble upon it in a chest.
The most complex Easter egg found so far was the “Forbidden Grip of the Ages“. Finding this Legendary axe pommel took several determined gamers quite some time; it even required them to translate runes on an item from the game’s Collector’s Edition. Barlog’s new comments are likely to stoke a fresh wave of searching from players of God of War. Knowing for sure that there’s at least one secret in the game that remains to be found is certainly a tantalizing piece of information for him to give out. No doubt some players will take the confirmation as a challenge.
