Rickey Henderson is King
Ricky Henderson is the all-time stolen base leader with 1,406 and the second-best player is leaps and bounds behind him. You can never say never, but it is highly doubtful in today’s game that anyone will ever break Henderson theft record.
Henderson swiped his 1,000-career base on this date and he was far from done. His 1,406 steals is almost 500 more than Lou Brock, who sits in second place with 938.
Surprisingly, Henderson played for nine teams in his career. It is hard to believe in this day and age that a team would trade a player that could hit with power, run like the wind and play great defense. Nevertheless, Henderson wore many uniforms during his incredible career.
Hoffman breaks the record
Before Mariano Rivera, there was Trevor Hoffman. On May 1, 2002, Hoffman entered the record books. Hoffman, who was with the San Diego Padres, set the record for most saves with one team at 321.
Hoffman finished his incredible career earning 601 saves. That mark makes him second-best in MLB history only behind Yankees closer Mariano Rivera
