Patch 9 is the next big game update for Fallout 76 and is due to release on the 7th of May, in a few days’ time. The update is set to bring a whole host of new content; it will introduce the Pioneer Scouts (a new faction), backpacks, the new Purveyor and Legendary Exchange Machines, and even player vending! Of course, alongside all this new content, Fallout 76 Patch 9 is still a patch; it is also bringing the usual selection of fixes and tweaks, particularly to several types of weapon. Display cases were also meant to come in Patch 9. However, Bethesda has now said that they will be delayed.
Fallout 76 Patch 9 Weapon Adjustments and When Fans will Get Display Cases
In their latest patch preview, Bethesda gives fans a glimpse at what is coming in Fallout 76 Patch 9. Alongside the new content, there are also some significant weapon tweaks coming to the game. The first of these is a major buff to plasma weapons; “Plasma Guns aren’t currently as strong as we’d like them to be,” explains Bethesda; “and we wanted to give them a bit of a damage boost to bring them more in line with the other weapons at your disposal.”
This damage boost equates to a 30% damage increase for the base Plasma Gun. Moreover, base Enclave Plasma Guns have their damage increased by 10% to 30%. There is also a fix coming for two bugs affecting shotguns with the explosive legendary effect. One of these bugs was causing the gun to deal double damage instead of +20% damage, and the second was causing incorrect damage figures to display in the Pip-Boy. These should both be fixed in Patch 9.
The third big weapon tweak is for Cryolator and Flamer ammo crafting. In response to player calls for more easy access to this ammunition, Bethesda is increasing the amount players can craft. Players will now gain 20 Flamer Fuel when crafting, instead of 5. Meanwhile, Cryolator ammo gained from crafting has gone up from 15 to 25.
Fallout 76 Display Cases Delayed to Later Update
Finally, Patch 9 was meant to bring display cases to the game as well. However, Bethesda has said that these will now be coming in a later May update; “As some of you may already be aware,” they say; “we’re planning to add display cases so that you can show off some of the items you’ve collected, such as weapons, bobbleheads, and magazines, in your C.A.M.P.s. We’re excited to bring this feature to the game, but it’s going to take a little more time and testing to make sure we get it right. As a result, display cases are going to arrive a few weeks after we release Patch 9. We know many of you are waiting to be able to flaunt your collections, and we appreciate your patience.”
