WWE 2K19 Game Roster Honors Women’s Superstars Including Trish Stratus, Lacey Evans on Mother’s Day 2019

Sunday is Mother’s Day 2019 and families around the world are celebrating mom for being that special hero, role model, and caretaker in their lives. The WWE 2K19 roster includes a number of women’s superstars who are mothers, with the game recently tweeting to recognize four of them. Here’s a look at the four women’s superstars in the game’s roster and how their impact has been felt in the wrestling world.

WWE 2K19 roster includes a number of superstars who are also mothers

In a tweet and social media post sent by WWE 2K19 on Sunday, they not only wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all moms but show off four that are past or present superstars. They are from left to right: Maryse Mizanin, Brie Bella, Trish Stratus, and Lacey Evans. All four women are part of the WWE 2K19 game roster with varying ratings.

Each of these women’s superstars has at least one child. There are at least a few WWE 2K19 roster members not pictured who also deserve some credit. They are Stephanie McMahon, Beth Phoenix, Maria Kanellis, Mickie James, Tamina Snuka, and Naomi. The latter three have competed regularly within the women’s division over the past several years. Kanellis, Phoenix, and even Stephanie have been involved in one-off matches here or there. Of those mentioned, Maria Kanellis was added to the game as part of a roster update several months ago.

WWE 2K games have evolved along with women’s division

Of the women shown in the tweet, Lacey Evans is the only one to make her official debut in WWE 2K19. The other three ladies have a history from back in the days of WWF/E while Evans is starting out. She’ll take on “The Man” Becky Lynch at the upcoming WWE Money in the Bank PPV next weekend. There’s a rumor that the WWE 2K20 cover athlete will, in fact, be Lynch who currently holds both women’s titles.

The women’s revolution has come a long way too. Back in Trish Stratus’ day, the Attitude Era had a much different take on how women were portrayed in the ring, as well as in video games. Previous WWE 2K titles even had “Bra and Panties” matches included. Trish Stratus participated in several of those during the Attitude Era days. WWE called it the Divas division for a while after that. Maryse and Brie Bella, amongst the women’s superstars who were part of that era where bikini contests were part of the entertainment.

The newest WWE 2K19 game no longer has those older matches or offensive storylines. In addition, fans are able to play the women’s matches that only recently began to headline pay-per-view main events. These include the Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, and the all-women Royal Rumble matches. There’s also the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Fans will be able to simulate the upcoming women’s Money in the Bank ladder match for next Sunday’s big PPV. It features mother and wife, Naomi. She’ll take on Natalya, Dana Brooke, Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Mady Rose, Ember Rose, and Carmella. The video below shows potential highlights for this upcoming contest.

As far as a “Mother vs. Daughter” match in a WWE ring, we’ve yet to see that beyond anything involving Stephanie and Linda McMahon. Still, something may be on the way in the future if today’s daughters become the next big WWE 2K stars.
