It’s been a busy Sunday in the NBA 2K League! On May 12, two teams pulled off an official trade as they look towards the remainder of their seasons. It will send a scoring star to his home area to try to boost his new squad. In addition to that, Saturday was the final day of tournament action in The Turn. Ultimately, one team stood taller than the rest and won the NBA 2K League The Turn Championship for 2019.
Warriors Gaming claims The Turn Championship in 2019
Warriors Gaming is a team continuing to make history in the 2019 season of NBA 2K League. During the second season’s draft not long ago, they became the first team to bring a female competitor into 2K League when they drafted Chiquita Evans. On Sunday, the team was able to rise above the competition to capture The Turn Championship.
It was a rather uneventful finals win for the new champions too. They defeated the defending champions 76ers GC by a final score of 58-39 in a dominant win to capture the title. The Turn was an event that included all 21 of this season’s 2K League squads battling it out over a tournament that spanned several days in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 2K League Twitter posted the video below which spotlights The Turn highlights from Warriors Gaming’s championship run in Las Vegas.
The Most Valuable Player for The Turn 2019 was Type. In Saturday’s championship win, the Warriors Gaming center was perfect from the field. He went 7-for-7 in the game and collected 13 rebounds as well as four steals and one block. He also played stellar defense on opponent Steez in limiting him to 16 points for the game. Type’s MVP win along with his team’s championship victory was the perfect way to spend Saturday which also happened to be his birthday.
According to the 2K League’s recap of Warriors Gaming’s run in Vegas, this could very well be the best team in the league. The team sits at 3-2 overall in the 2K League standings which has them in seventh place, but it’s possible this tournament win will give them momentum. They’re back in action on Thursday when they take on Magic Gaming at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Viewers can watch the matchup on Twitch and YouTube Gaming.
NBA 2K League trade involves T-Wolves, HEAT Check Gaming
As the 2K League looks to continue the schedule this coming week, two teams pulled off a trade on Sunday. The deal saw HEAT Check send Jordan “JMoneyRep817” Martinez to T-Wolves Gaming for Brandon “Hood” Caicedo. It’s an interesting move in which T-Wolves Gaming picks up a guy averaging 15.6 points and 5.4 assists per game this season on 45.3 percent field goal shooting.
Hood is no slouch, though. He’s averaging more points per game (17.5ppg) and shooting better from the field. He’s also a South Florida native, so he’ll be right at home on the HEAT Check squad. Both players will make their debuts with their new teams in the coming week.
Hood’s official HEAT Check Gaming debut will come this Wednesday, May 15 when his team plays Cavs Legion GC at 8 p.m. ET. T-Wolves Gaming is in action the same night. JMoneyRep makes his debut with the team in their 9 p.m. ET game versus Pistons GT.
