One of the exciting aspects of EA Sports’ FIFA 19 is the number of teams available to use in the game complete with official rosters. That includes women’s soccer, allowing fans to use teams such as Team USA with Alex Morgan and her teammates. Morgan and company will be under the spotlight in the upcoming Women’s World Cup in France. Now it is also available in the video game, thanks to a FIFA 19 Women’s World Cup mode that was recently unveiled.
New update adds FIFA 19 Women’s World Cup mode
On Wednesday (May 29), the FIFA 19 game added Team of the Week 37 and also a new update. The update goes forth as soon as the FIFA 19 title is launched. That update is just a bit under two gigabytes on the PlayStation 4 and can take about 10 minutes or more. However, it’s worth it as it will be a free batch of content added into the game including 10 new Women’s National Teams. That boosts the original total of teams up to 22.
Those teams include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China PR, England, France, Germany, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and Thailand. There’s also Team USA of course. Of the teams mentioned, EA Sports makes it known that certain teams have only “generic players.” They are only Brazil and Chile, per EA’s notes.
A few other details are out with that update that are important to know. One of them is all of the teams’ rosters may not be official. However, EA Sports mentioned they play to run roster updates in conjunction with the upcoming World Cup soccer tournament.
In addition, this new FIFA 19 Women’s World Cup mode is available on the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, and PCs. It’s not currently available on Nintendo Switch, though. Switch users can still use any of the 22 Women’s World Cup teams in Kick-Off mode, but they won’t have that finals match presentation included in their game.
Women’s tournament details, using the mode in FIFA 19
The FIFA Women’s World Cup starts up with the first group stage matchups next Friday, June 7. Only the host nation France will be in action against South Korea, with more matchups to follow in the days after that. Team USA takes the field on June 11 against Thailand for their first game. Ultimately, two teams will battle for the World Cup Trophy in the finals in France on July 7.
Gamers should be able to find the new FIFA 19 Women’s World Cup mode through the Kick Off menu of their game. It’ll provide the ability to play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final and potentially hoist the Trophy at Stade de Lyon in France. It’s great to see FIFA bringing this free new content just as the excitement of the Women’s World Cup is arriving globally!
