The Outer Worlds Release Date Announced With New Trailer

Dying to play The Outer Worlds, the upcoming sci-fi open world RPG by Obsidian Entertainment? Well, there’s some good news. There is now a brand new trailer for the forthcoming game. And the best part is that it includes The Outer Worlds release date.

When is The Outer Worlds Release Date?

The Outer Worlds release date according to the new trailer is October 25th, 2019. The game will be available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Check out the trailer for yourself below:

There are a lot of reasons to be excited about this game. The first and most obvious is the name “Obsidian.” Obsidian brought us Fallout: New Vegas, arguably one of the best Fallout games ever.

Obsidian brought a strong depth of writing to its companions and offered a complex political situation with a range of interesting factions. Furthermore, the way that New Vegas’ story unfolded felt very organic. There were many different ways to play through the events and interact with the different factions. If they bring everything they did well in NV to The Outer Worlds, that definitely bodes well for their new IP.

Next, another reason to be excited about The Outer Worlds is its design. It looks like Fallout, BioShock, No Man’s Sky and Borderlands all got together and had a baby. As all of those games have great aesthetic features, that is a big plus for those who are into atmosphere.

The game’s statement on corporations and the power they hold over our everyday lives also makes it look like an exciting and timely entry to our video game libraries this year. Many of us can relate in a disturbing real-life way to the idea of “scheduled scarcities” (built-in obsolesce, anyone?). So, given that the original BioShock was a commentary on capitalism taken to an extreme, this too seems to echo that series.

But, as a downside (for those who do not want to shop at the Epic Games Store), The Outer Worlds is going to be an Epic Games Store exclusive. You can’t win ‘em all, right?

Hopefully we will be learning a lot more about The Outer Worlds over the week ahead and beyond. Be sure and check back in with us throughout the week for more E3 news. We’ll be covering the katest from the convention as it comes out. Don’t miss a single update!
