Outpost is Now Available in Battlefield 5 for a Limited Time

In the final limited-time mode of Trial by Fire, the third Tides of War chapter for Battlefield 5, DICE is adding a new game mode called Outpost. This mode features a different style of play to most other modes, putting the emphasis more on defence and objective control. The Battlefield 5 Outpost game mode won’t be around for too much longer, however.

What is the New Battlefield 5 Outpost Game Mode

Like every new mode added in the Tides of War chapters, the Battlefield 5 Outpost mode is only available for around two weeks. (Although, DICE has been known to extend this availability period if there is enough popular demand.) As such, players should take the advantage to try it out now, while it’s still available.

Battlefield 5 Outpost Game Mode Now Available

“With Outpost,” explains DICE; “we’ve created a game mode with slightly more emphasis on defence and tactical play, where the kill count isn’t as vital as controlling key points. You can however still expect a lot of action, as the control points you’ll be defending will see a high heat – and you have an opportunity to do a great deal of destruction.”

Effectively, in a game of Outpost, each team of 32 players must build and protect radio towers. These can be built in the same manner as the game’s normal Fortifications. Once a radio tower is active, it will provide both requisition points and “recruits,” as time passes. The latter is the unique mode currency for Outpost. Once one team reaches the specified number of recruits, they win the match. Not only do you need to defend your own radio towers and attack the enemy ones; you can also upgrade each tower up to three times. Each upgrade makes the tower more effective, but also makes it a more tempting target for the enemy.

Attackers can destroy towers by planting bombs on them, or simply by using regular explosives. Anybody can use the former option, although such bombs can be defused by defenders.
