NBA 2K19 Highlight Video, Playoffs Moments Cards Celebrate Toronto Raptors’ Championship Win
By now, most NBA fans have heard that there’s a new champion in the league. On Thursday, Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors dethroned the Golden State Warriors to win their first-ever Larry O’Brien trophy. The team has already started celebrating with their fans and will have a championship parade on the way. However, NBA 2K19 is also celebrating the Raptors. They’ve recently put together a special NBA 2K19 highlight video and also unveiled brand new Playoffs Moments cards for some of the Raptors’ players.
NBA 2K19 highlight video recreates the 2019 NBA Finals story
The NBA Finals matchup this year provided plenty of drama ranging from Drake’s courtside antics in Toronto to unfortunate injuries for the reigning champions. Ultimately, Kawhi Leonard and his supporting cast of players on the Raptors provided too much for the Golden State Warriors without Kevin Durant. The Warriors kept finding to the end, even after losing Klay Thompson to a knee injury.
An NBA 2K19 highlight video captures all of that in a montage of moments from the 2019 NBA Finals. They include the whole story with injuries, big shots, highlight plays, and celebrations.
The Toronto Raptors won the 2019 NBA Finals 4-2 as they picked up their championship victory in Oakland, California this past Thursday. It finally put Toronto on the map for basketball with their first title. Ironically, Canada is where the game began thanks to Dr. James Naismith, and the rest is history. Without that, there may never have been the game of basketball, or basketball video games.
Special Playoffs Moments cards for Raptors
Kawhi Leonard joined some elite company as he became an NBA Finals winner and MVP with two different squads. Years ago, Kawhi picked up his first ring as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. He was also named the MVP for the series. That happened again for him as part of the East’s Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals.
The other players who accomplished the feat are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James. So it’s no surprise to see Kawhi Leonard with another Galaxy Opal as part of a new batch of Playoffs Moments cards.
The surprise may not be that fellow All-Star Kyle Lowry also has a Galaxy Opal card, but that three other Raptors teammates do. They are rising stars Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam as well as veteran star Marc Gasol. Each of them has a Galaxy Opal lurking in the Playoffs Moments Packs at the 2K19 Store.
As seen above, each card has a photo of the specific player proudly holding the Larry O’Brien trophy. These new Playoffs Moments cards have a limited time of availability within packs. It’s a bit under six days as of this report before they’ll no longer be in the packs. The cost of packs starts at 6,500 Virtual Currency or 9,500 MT for a five-card pack. Gamers can also purchase 10 packs for 58,500 VC, or 20 packs for 117,000 VC.
The specific players’ cards are also available through auctions at the 2K19 Auction House. We’ve already seen bids ranging from 69,000 MT up to 100,000 MT depending on which player one is trying to acquire. However, these are the best cards for these players, so it makes sense to see prices this high for all of them. That’s especially true for NBA 2K19 MyTeam fans who are also Raptors supporters.
