Some NHL 20 rumors are arriving just as the National Hockey League prepares for its annual awards show. Fans have been awaiting an announcement of the next installment in EA’s popular franchise. So far, EA has revealed their popular Madden 20 and FIFA 20 games, but not NHL 20. That could change tonight, based on some of the speculation going around.
Awards show to bring NHL 20 cover reveal?
On Wednesday night, hockey fans will be able to watch the NHL Awards, an annual show to hand out hardware for the best-of-the-best in the league. In addition to that, the show will provide a platform for EA to reveal the new NHL 20 cover. They’ve teased the announcement on their Twitter platform already. All that EA NHL Twitter posted is the simple image below, letting fans know it’s on the way.
Still, that image alone is enough to get people talking as they hope for improved gameplay in the areas they want to see addressed most. A thread on Reddit has one individual giving a potential preview of how the reveal will go down.
However, one of the always interesting aspects of EA and other pro sports titles is who gets the cover. The NHL 20 cover reveal should show us that individual, in a similar way to what EA did at the NFL Draft. During that event, they revealed the new Madden 20 cover athlete as Patrick Mahomes.
The NHL 19 cover star was P.K. Subban from the Nashville Predators. There were also special covers of the game for Finnish and Swedish editions. The Finnish cover had the Winnipeg Jets’ William Nylander while the Swedish featured the Toronto Maple Leafs’ William Nylander on front.
Some early guesses for Wednesday’s NHL 20 cover include Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, or even Jordan Binnington. Of those players, Binnington could become the first goalie to grace the cover since Martin Brodeur back on NHL 14.
How to watch the NHL Awards on Wednesday
The 2019 NHL Awards show will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday (June 19). Bridgestone will present the event which takes place at Mandalay Bay Events Center. Fans, players, personnel, and celebrities will gather to celebrate the past season of hockey excellence.

Several members of the NHL Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues are up for awards including rookie goalie Jordan Binnington, center Ryan O’Reilly, and coach Craig Berube.
