CD Projekt Red Announce Huge New Cyberpunk 2077 Cosplay Contest
As if there wasn’t already enough hype surrounding Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has announced a new project which is certainly going to further stoke the fires of fan anticipation; a huge new Cyberpunk 2077 cosplay contest. This contest is anything but minor. The studio is offering up a $40,000 prize pool for the winning entrants!
The Upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Cosplay Contest
Interested fans can learn more about the Cyberpunk 2077 cosplay contest on a dedicated webpage found on the game’s official website. “Get inspired by the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and take part in one of the biggest cosplay contests ever!” it reads; “Create a getup based on an existing character from the game and blow our minds for a shot at the lion’s share of a $40,000 prize pool and a chance to shine on the world stage!”
Participants can enter the contest both online and offline. From now until 23:59 CET on the 30th of November, entrants can submit their entry online via the official website. If entrants want to participate in person, they can appear in one of five showcases on stage at live events; Gamescom (August 21st – 24th), PAX West (August 31st – September 3rd), Tokyo Game Show (September 12th – 15th), Igromir (October 4th – 7th), and Paris Games Week (October 30th – November 3rd). Note that the cosplay has to be of an official character shown in the Cyberpunk 2077 game materials released by CD Projekt Red; it can’t be a design for an original character, or anything else.
Of all of the entrants, CD Projekt Red will select ten finalists. Five of these will be chosen from the online submissions. The best entrant from each of the five live events will make up the remaining five finalists. These ten individuals will be invited to a Grand Finale event in 2020. There, they’ll compete for a share of the $40,000 grand prize pool. You can find the contest’s full rules and regulations here.
