Many fans are looking forward to the upcoming WWE video game from 2K to see what sorts of improvements or surprises are in store. With most WWE 2K releases, there’s also the curious roster reveal in which fans get to see which superstars are playable characters in the game. In this past year’s WWE 2K19, one of the biggest omissions upon release was Tommaso Ciampa. Fans are hoping he’s part of the new game, so let’s take a look at the WWE 2K20 roster predictions for who may be in the game, and who is unlikely to be.
WWE 2K20 Roster predictions: 5 Superstars Who Could Debut
We already mentioned the roster rumors for Hulk Hogan, who wouldn’t exactly be making his debut in the game. However, his inclusion would be great for fans as it would show that WWE and Hulkster are on the same page.
The first of our WWE 2K20 roster predictions is a no-brainer. As mentioned, one has to think that Tommaso Ciampo will return for the new game. Leaving the reigning NXT Champion out of the 2K19 title was a major mistake and he didn’t even appear in the DLC packs after the game. Having Ciampo in the new game will certainly be a move 2K needs to make.
Another NXT superstar should make their official debut in 2K20. Matt Riddle arrived on the scene this past year after working in Ring of Honor, amongst other promotions. Riddle quickly showed his stuff and is apparently one of Vince’s favorite new stars. His recent comments that were critical of Goldberg may have seemed harsh, but he still should be part of the new game’s roster. He’s part of the WWE 2K19 Community Creations as seen below.
Toni Storm is another newer star who arrived for the WWE UK roster this past year. She is the 2018 Mae Young Classic winner and amongst the most talented new stars in WWE. The current NXT UK Women’s Champion makes sense as a roster addition when the roster is officially revealed.
Zelina Vega (real name Thea Trinidiad) was part of the WWE 2K19 game. However, she appeared as a manager who wasn’t one of the playable superstars in the game. We’re expecting that should change with WWE 2K20 and she’ll be a playable superstar for SmackDown. Zelina appeared in a few WWE matches alongside Andrade “Cien” Almas and also in the women’s battle royal at WrestleMania 35.
Superstars who probably won’t be included
Figuring out which superstars probably won’t make the cut is easy when it comes to WWE 2K20 roster predictions. The arrival of the new All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and several WWE stars moving to their roster helps with that.
Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley) is a member of the WWE 2K19 roster, but is unlikely to make it into WWE 2K20. It’s always possible the game was in process and a deal was signed for him to appear. However, it seems extremely unlikely that a guy who left WWE for a competitor is going to have a roster spot in their game. One has to think Chris Jericho is also going to be left out.
The same goes for former “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger. He now goes by Shawn Spears in All Elite Wrestling. Spears just recently showed up at AEW’s Fyter Fest event on Saturday night to deliver a controversial chair shot to Cody Rhodes. Just like Ambrose/Moxley, it’s unlikely WWE wants Spears as part of 2K20.
Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir have appeared in a few matches during their time with WWE NXT. They’ve also been ringside to help out Shayna Baszler quite a few times during her reign as champion. However, Duke and Shafir haven’t really had a huge push. So it’d be surprising if the two NXT stars appear in the new game.
There may be a few other stars from 2K19 who won’t be in the 2K20 game. Bret Hart helped All Elite Wrestling to unveil their inaugural championship belt at Double or Nothing. Dustin Rhodes aka “Goldust” also took part in a one-on-one match against his brother Cody at the event. It’d be surprising if Bret or Dustin are on the WWE 2K20 roster.
