Anyone who played Dontnod Entertainment’s last game, Life is Strange, might remember a certain sequence of events involving a plant. It seems that the developers at Dontnod do, because they saw fit to include an Easter egg referring to the plant in their latest game, Vampyr. Completing this minor Easter egg will net players the “Unlife is Strange” achievement/trophy.
Vampyr released yesterday, and received positive reviews for its story and cast of characters. However, many reviewers also criticized its combat and poor performance issues such as frame rate drops. It remains to be seen whether the game will be an enduring success among gamers.
How to Complete the Easter Egg
In Vampyr, you may spot a withered plant in Dr. Reid’s office at Pembroke Hospital. This is the plant which you will need to revive in order to complete the Easter egg. If you played Life is Strange, you may recall that Max Caulfield had a plant in her room at Blackwell Academy. Keeping the plant alive was something you could choose to do, and in the game, Max named the plant “Lisa”. When you interact with the plant in Vampyr, Dr. Reid will note that it seems to be dying.
To water the plant, you’ll need to travel to the West End district. As this area contains higher-level adversaries, you may wish to wait until you reach at least level 10 before attempting this step. In the West End, you can enter a house and retrieve “Pure Water” from a cabinet in the first room. When you next interact with the plant, Dr. Reid will water it. After three days, the plant will have recovered from its dying state. Interact with it a final time and you’ll unlock the “Unlife is Strange” achievement/trophy.
There is one final nod to Life is Strange; when you interact with the plant after its recovery, Dr. Reid will remark on its rejuvenation and name it “Lisa”, mirroring the plant that featured in Max’s room.
