FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs: Nicolas99fc Wins PlayStation Championship Ahead of eWorld Cup

The road to the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup continued over the past few days as the PlayStation Playoffs took place in Berlin. They’d arrive not long after an Xbox One champion was crowned in a surprising upset of an esports star. That wasn’t the case in Berlin where the esports star was victorious. It was none other than the No. 1-ranked player Nicolas99fc reigning supreme after going undefeated in his latest championship run. Here are more details on these FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs.

Nicolas99fc emerges from latest FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs

While spots were on the line for the FIFA eWorld Cup, there was also the matter of deciding a champion at these latest FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs. The esports tournament would feature the best of the best on the PlayStation 4 when it comes to the virtual football title. Last season, Nicolas99fc was the best, and he remains on that level this season. “The Iceman” chatted a bit about how he was feeling in the latest tournament just ahead of playing in the finals.

After originally starting out with a total of 64 competitors, the field was whittled down to just two remaining players. In Sunday’s FIFA 19 PlayStation Playoffs finale, it was No. 1 Nicolas defeating the No. 5-ranked esports player on PlayStation Mkers LevVinken. Nicolas took down Wolves Fifilza in the semifinals. LevVinken eliminated Diogo “tuga810” Pombo to take the other spot.

The final included some tense moments. Down 1-0 with 18 minutes to go, LevVinken finally achieved an equalizer to keep his chances alive. LevVinken had several chances at another goal late, but they were blocked and over the top of the goal. With time running down, Nicolas employed a keep away strategy to get time off the clock. Ultimately, Nicolas99fc left with the victory over the course of several legs.

There was no denying The Iceman yet another big victory at the finals. A quick video clip captures the moment as Nicolas99fc picks up his second-straight championship.
