Players will certainly have a lot to do once Cyberpunk 2077 launches next year. The upcoming RPG from CD Projekt Red will no doubt have a detailed main story, but will also include a huge amount of side content and other activities. One such activity which has now been confirmed is that there will be Cyberpunk 2077 street racing!
What We Know About Cyberpunk 2077 Street Racing
The confirmation came in a recent interview with CD Projekt Red’s Alvin Liu with Wccftech. During the interview, Liu answered a range of questions about Cyberpunk 2077 and revealed a variety of new information. For instance, he revealed that the dynamic weather system would include acid rain, and that players will be able to venture out beyond the limits of Night City into the Californian deserts. While speaking on the latter topic, Liu also made a brief mention of Cyberpunk 2077 street racing.
“You’ll be able to go out in the desert of California and view things like power plants, abandoned highways and stuff like that,” he said; “So you’re not just limited to Night City. It’s a really cool place to use our cars and drive them fast, as it’s hard to go super fast in the city. We do have street racing, though.”
Presumably, street racing will be a side activity which players can participate in. Although, it’s easy to imagine it playing a part in the story, just as horse racing plays a small part in the story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Perhaps V will need to win a street race at one stage? It’s certainly conceivable. However, it’s also likely that players will be able to enter street races without any story imperative, perhaps as a way to earn money or improve their street cred. For now, fans will have to wait and see whether CD Projekt Red decides to reveal gameplay of a street race in action.
