EA Releases NHL 20 Franchise Mode Trailer Video Outlining Key Changes

There’s just under a month until EA’s new NHL 20 video game arrives for consoles everywhere. Ahead of the game’s widespread release, EA is giving gamers a more detailed look at some of the new aspects of the hockey sim title. That will include an updated NHL 20 Franchise Mode which features the addition of coaches, amongst other changes. A brand new trailer video arrived on August 15 to show off the key details.

NHL 20 Franchise Mode video shows new features including Coaches

With NHL 20 pre-orders underway, gamers are looking forward to the new changes for specific modes, like Franchise Mode. The addition of Coaches in the NHL 20 Franchise Mode is one of the biggest changes this year.

Coaches will get a set of ratings based on six attributes: Offense, Defense, Powerplay, Penalty Kill, Teaching, and Influence. In the Franchise Mode, coaches also have an impact on team morale and staff chemistry. So their attributes will play a part in how the team performs in certain situations.

In the video below, they talk about how the various coaches’ attributes work and impact aspects of the team play. The video also goes over all of the other new changes coming to NHL 20 Franchise Mode, some of which we outline below.

Another new aspect of Franchise Mode involves the use of interviews. Previously there were just regular conversations in the mode. Now, interviews can be used before hiring a coach to get a feel for what they’re looking for and what they could bring to the team. Additionally, there are draft day interviews to get information on potential prospects for the team.

New Scouting Reports & Trade Finder

Two other new additions will be with Scouting Reports and Trade Finder. There will be two new Amateur Scouting Reports and two new Pro Reports. These reports allow you to determine which players best fit your particular coaches’ scheme for the lineup.

With Trade Finder, they’ve made it so gamers can now simply select the assets they want to trade from the team and consider offers that come in. That makes things quicker than having to go back-and-forth with trade proposals before a deal finally happens. Here’s a screenshot of what it might look like on the Team Management area of Franchise Mode.

Basically, it seems like a lot of gamers are ready for these changes as they’ll try to take teams to a new level of success in this NHL game mode! The new NHL 20 game arrives on September 13, 2019, for PS4 and Xbox One.
