First announced around two months by CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will bring the studio’s best-selling fantasy RPG to the Nintendo Switch. Just three days ago, the studio announced an official release date for the upcoming Witcher 3 Switch edition with a new trailer. Now, they have released more than half a dozen new screenshots captured on the Nintendo Switch; demonstrating that the game’s graphics haven’t been as sharply reduced as some had believed.
New Screenshots for the Witcher 3 Switch Edition
Rumours that CD Projekt Red would bring The Witcher 3 to Nintendo’s latest console began around eight months ago, following an apparent retail leak. However, most analysts (including myself!) raised doubts that the leak referred to The Witcher 3, pointing to the fact that the game’s file size was too large to fit onto the console. As it turns out, there is indeed a Witcher 3 Switch edition. However, in order to fit the game onto the console, CD Projekt Red has had to reduce the graphical quality.
While two short trailers have given fans a brief look at the game on Switch, CD Projekt Red has now released eight screenshots from other moments in the game. Although the graphical quality is obviously lower than on other platforms, it is perhaps not as much lower as expected. Indeed, the studio seems to have tried to keep most of the reductions in the background, while retaining as much quality in the foreground as possible. While Geralt may seem a little fuzzy around the edges, it doesn’t seem like something which will prevent Switch players from enjoying the game to the fullest.
The Witcher 3 Switch edition will have its digital and retail release on the 15th of October. The ‘Complete Edition’ will include the base game and all of its DLC; both ‘Hearts of Stone’ and ‘Blood and Wine,’ as well as 16 free DLC releases.
