Ever since the launch of the game, or indeed, shortly thereafter, Battlefield fans have been asking DICE to increase the game’s rank cap. Now, at last, DICE will be doing just that. Later in Chapter 4 of Tides of War, DICE is planning to increase the Battlefield 5 Rank system from 50 all the way to 500. They will also introduce a new Promotion system which offers rewards every 50 ranks.
The New Battlefield 5 Rank and Promotion System
Once this new feature is implemented, players will continue to gain XP as normal. However, players will be able to rank up past Rank 50. Every time you gain 50 Ranks, you’ll earn a Promotion, starting at Rank 100. As you progress from Rank 51 onwards, you’ll gradually earn extra Company Coin. (1500 per Rank from Rank 50 to 70, then 3000 per Rank until Rank 500.) According to DICE, the new system will award players with around 2,000,000 Company Coin by the time they reach Rank 500. Once you reach Rank 100, you get the first Promotion. This awards you with a new Dog Tag for your Company and a new Career Rank Icon. These rewards are given with each new Promotion, which occur every 50 Ranks after Rank 100, up to 500.

A recent Reddit post which details the new Battlefield 5 Rank system explains that the amount of XP needed to Rank up past Rank 50 will change. “Currently, in order for you to get from 49 to 50, you need 35,000 XP,” it explains; “but getting from 50 to 51 will only require 12,000 XP. This is 3x higher than when you went from Rank 0 to 1, and you’ll see a similar trend as you continue on through to your first promotion at Rank 100.”
This XP curve resets after every promotion. However, the curve will increase with each promotion. As a result, it will always take longer to gain the higher ranks in every multiple of 50. However, it will also gradually take longer overall from each 50 ranks to the next 50. At that final rank, players will continue to get Company Coin through Assignments, Tides of War rewards, and Daily Orders. Note that the new Company Coin rewards at each Rank do mean that the game will no longer award Company Coin at the end of rounds.
