Today has been the first day of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta where the game is freely available to all players on all platforms. With that opening up of the event, Activision and Infinity Ward have added Ground War, a new 32v32 game mode, as well as a variety of new maps and playlists which will continue to be available throughout the final days of the Open Beta.
What’s New in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta
First of all, when it comes to new content in the Modern Warfare Beta, Infinity Ward today added a host of new playlists. These include; 6v6 Gun Runner, 6v6 Hackney Yard (Day), 6v6 Azhir Cave (Day), 10v10 Grazna Raid, and 32v32 Ground War on the Karst River Quarry map. Additionally, there are now Game Mode Filters for Team Deathmatch, Domination, Headquarters, and Cyber Attack. (Including separate filters for 10v10 Headquarters and Domination.) Plus, there are two new featured playlists for Ground War and 2v2 Gunfight (with the King, Pine, and Stack maps).
Infinity Ward has also addressed several points of feedback which have been raised by players. In a recent post detailing their responses to feedback, they identified eight specific areas that they were investigating. These include console crashes, blurriness on the PC matchmaking screen, a bug with invites on Xbox, and more. One key areas which they addressed is the game’s spawning and visuals; “Spawning is currently inconsistent on some maps,” they explained; “so thank you for sharing your videos with us and sharing your feedback.
“We’ll continue to monitor the spawn system and we’ll update you if we deploy any changes. We will also be looking into lighting and exposure on various areas of the map, such as how you view dark rooms from the outside of a building and vice versa, for example”. Certainly, it seems as though Infinity Ward will have plenty of work to do after the Beta concludes. Of course, that is the purpose of the Beta, and this feedback should help to ensure that the game is well-polished upon release.
