If you’re a new player and just joined the vast universe of Destiny 2, this article will help you understand what this game is all about. First off, let’s rewind back to the release of Destiny 1. In 2014, Bungie released their new IP after the Halo franchise – Destiny. After Destiny’s official release, Bungie delivered a total of four expansions for Destiny 1. After that, they released a follow-up to the series – Destiny 2. This game was meant to be the next big thing for Bungie, but sadly, it was a combination of poor loot system, repetitive gameplay, and was aimed more for casual players than the veterans (now, the game is perfect and keeps getting better and better).
Destiny 2: The Introduction
Destiny 2 comes with a spectacular story campaign of Dominus Ghaul, who almost wiped Humanity and Guardians for good. The base game has several exotic quests for different exotic weapons (such as MIDA-Multi Tool, Rat King, etc). Keep in mind, that Destiny 2 base game, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind comes free of cost with Destiny 2: New Light along with the Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, and Spire of Stars raid.
Destiny 2: Expansions And Annual Pass
The first expansion of Destiny 2 was Curse of Osiris which covers the story-line of Osiris on Mercury (The Infinite Forest). Next up, players will get to Mars in Warmind – the second expansion for the game. This expansion mainly revolves around Rasputin and Ana Bray.
The above two expansions were released in Year 1 on Destiny 2. Going forward, Bungie released the third expansion for the game – Forsaken. This expansion was the turning point for With Forsaken, Bungie delivered a breathtaking storyline covering the death of Cayde-6 and taking revenge from Uldren Sov. The raid – Last Wish – in the expansion is hands-down one of the best raids I’ve played in Destiny franchise (The Taken King is still on the first spot).
With the start of Year 2, Bungie changed the business model for the game to Annual Pass instead of separate expansion packs. So, players who purchased the Annual Pass for Forsaken got three seasons of content (Season of the Armory, Drifter, and Opulence).
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
Fast-forwarding to Shadowkeep, Bungie changed a lot of stuff in-game with this expansion. Armor 2.0, Finisher Moves, Seasonal Artifact, and Infinite Power Grind. Shadowkeep comes with a brand-new storyline that finally answers some questions regarding the Darkness. This expansion takes place on the Moon. You’ll go The Black Garden in the Garden of Salvation raid in this expansion.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, released on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
