In the past week of NFL action, fans saw the mighty New England Patriots suffer their first loss of the 2019-20 season at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. The past week of games also included the San Francisco 49ers remaining perfect with a win over the Arizona Cardinals. Those performances and others were worthy of Madden 20 Team of the Week considerations, so let’s see who EA’s Madden team selected for the latest group.

Madden 20 Team of the Week LTD, Offensive, & Defensive Hero cards

The new Madden 20 Team of the Week 9 is led by a trio of stars from this past week’s performances. The first player was teased a day early by Madden Ultimate Team on Twitter as the Baltimore Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey is revealed as TOTW Defensive Hero. That’s due to Humphrey grabbing a Julian Edelman fumble and bringing it to the endzone for six. Humphrey now has a 91 overall TOTW card with 92 Acceleration, 91 Speed, 88 Play Recognition, and 87 Agility amongst his key attributes.

Speaking of big highlight touchdowns, that’s exactly what the Offensive Hero for TOTW 9 had. With Patrick Mahomes on the sidelines, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill had 140 yards and a touchdown on six receptions in the team’s close 26-23 win over Minnesota. That’s enough to bring Hill a 91 OVR TOTW 9 card which includes a sweet 94-speed rating amongst attributes.

For this week’s limited item, the Houston Texans’ left outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett gets the nod. His 92 overall limited card comes after recording two sacks and a forced fumble in the Texans’ win. Scarlett’s LTD item includes 91 Block Shedding, 90 Acceleration, 90 Tackle, and 87 Play Recognition amongst key attributes.

Scarlett’s item is a limited card found in packs for just several days. However, the Offensive and Defensive Hero items are available for completing a full set of all 12 Madden 20 Team of the Week 9 players. All three players’ cards will also be available for a high price on the Auction browser for Ultimate Team.

What other players made it onto TOTW?

As mentioned, the San Francisco 49ers moved to 8-0 this past week and are the only remaining undefeated team in the league. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo continues his excellent work as the guiding force on the field after last year’s tough injury. He leads a group of other TOTW 9 players that include the Cowboys’ Xavier Woods, Steelers’ Bud Dupree, and Bills’ Devin Singletary.

Los Angeles Chargers’ wide receiver Mike Williams gets an 84 OVR item after three huge receptions racked up 111 yards for him. That helped his team defeat the mighty Green Bay Packers. Joining him in this group of players ranging from 77 to 84 OVR are fellow wide receivers Preston Williams of the Dolphins and Hunter Renfrow of the Raiders.

As seen above, the Miami Dolphins have two players on TOTW 9 as defensive tackle Christian Wilkins also made the group following the team’s first win of the season.

Where to get TOTW 9 player items

Madden 20 Team of the Week players are live after 3 p.m. Eastern Time due to the lateness of the Monday Night Football game. While the TOTW is presented during a Tuesday morning EA Madden Twitch stream, it’s always a “work in progress” as MNF players might be added later. That was the case with the latest lineup which included the Cowboys’ Xavier Woods.

To get TOTW players, gamers can go to the Ultimate Team Store to buy packs or bundles. A week 9 TOTW pack goes for 30,000 Madden Coins or 500 Points. A 12X TOTW Bundles is 5,850 Points, which are only available by using real money to buy them.

Otherwise, gamers earn one free TOTW player by getting a six Stars combined for Team of the Week challenges. The latest challenges involve Tyreek Hill and Marlon Humphries. Each of their challenges is worth up to five Stars based on difficulty level and achieving the in-game bonus goals.

The expensive way to get Team of the Week players is by going into the Auction Browser. However, this will take a lot of Madden Coins depending on which particular TOTW player one is trying to buy. Sometimes it’s best to wait a bit as more of the player’s cards arrive for sale and sellers start to lower prices competitively.
