Back when Destiny 2 Shadowkeep was revealed, Bungie also talked about a mysterious weapon that will be coming with this expansion. At that time, it was called something like $MACHINEGUN0.NAME$. Considering it was a bugged weapon (literally), Bungie decided to change the name for this machine gun to Xenophage when Shadowkeep launched back in October. But after the release of the weapon with Pits of Heresy dungeon, it felt really underwhelming and not very usable in many encounters.
Destiny 2 Xenophage Getting Buffed
In Bungie’s weekly blog-post This Week At Bungie, they revealed that Xenophage will finally be getting the Traveler’s Light in the next sandbox update. This update will be hitting PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia next season (Season of Dawn). Here’s are the actual numbers of the buffed Xenophage as per the Bungie’s blog-post:
Xenophage
- Increased PvE damage by +50%
- Ammo pulled from PvP crates has been increased to 4/6 from 3/4 from shared and solo Heavy ammo crates, respectively
“Xenophage unintentionally shipped a little weak, so it’s getting a bump up in raw damage. Machine Guns have a higher ammunition capacity than other Heavy weapons, trading raw DPS for ease of use. Xenophage slides further towards other Heavy weapons such as Grenade Launchers in that aspect but didn’t get enough power back. This will correct that.“
You should complete all of the incomplete quests for the Season 8 Ritual Weapons if you haven’t completed them yet. As they will be getting reset at the next season launch. Bungie said:
“As of this week, players have roughly one month left before Season of the Undying concludes. Players who wish to unlock Seasonal ranks, Triumphs, and/or exclusive gear need to do so before maintenance begins on Tuesday, December 10. We’d also like to take this opportunity to make players aware that, if incomplete, the following pursuits will be removed from players’ inventories once this season concludes:
- First Watch (Vanguard)
- Battle Drills (Crucible)
- Keepin’ On (Gambit)
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, released on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
