Eallin Animation Responds to Plagiarism Allegations

You might have heard about (or seen) a PlayStation Japan promo video that recently came out which appeared to have plagiarized everything from FLCL to Steven Universe: The Movie. The director who worked on the promo is named Kevin Bao, and the animation company in question is Eallin Animation. Now, Eallin Animation has responded to the allegations that Bao committed plagiarism when he created the promo.

Eallin Animation and Kevin Bao Appear to Be Parting Ways

The animation studio responded to the issue in a tweet, which you can view below:

https://twitter.com/EallinAnimation/status/1202273300862447617?s=20

The text says, “We had no knowledge that the work produced by Kevin Bao was plagiarized. We have ceased with immediate effect any representation of Kevin Boa’s work and have contacted Kevin for a response.”

Apparently, a director page once existed for Bao at the studio’s website, but it now is gone. Also, some posts that the company made on social media promoting content he created were removed.

Why would someone shoot a promising career in the foot by doing something like this? We have no idea. Time pressures? Whatever the case may be, at least Eallin Animation was quick to respond both through its tweet and its actions to distance itself from Bao. We will be curious to find out whether Sony is going to make any sort of response.
