Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One

When Activision first marketed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One, they described it as the biggest post-launch content release in the series’ history. While it is worth noting that post-launch content releases are a relatively new concept, the statement has nonetheless proven accurate. Season One brought the game’s first Battle Pass, along with a whole host of new game modes, maps, weapons, and more. The timing of the Anthem video release is also worth noting; Activision is likely seeking to market the game’s latest content to new players over the holidays.

When it comes to modes, Modern Warfare Season One has seen the addition of Infected, Gunfight O.S.P. and Cranked, with additional Gunfight modes reportedly in the works. As far as maps go, Infinity Ward has delivered even more; Atrium, Cargo, Crash, and Port all launched at the start of the season, while the second batch of new content included Over Winter, Vacant, and of course, Shipment. Players have gotten two new weapons; the Holger-26 and RAM-7, as part of the 20 free Battle Pass tiers, as well as new missions for the game’s Spec Ops mode. And, of course, there have also been numerous store bundles. The latest set of three are currently available in the store throughout the rest of December.

As for what’s coming next to Modern Warfare in the new year; both Activision and Infinity Ward are staying fairly quiet. Several leaks have all but confirmed the upcoming addition of a Battle Royale mode. However, it’s currently unknown how far away the release of that mode is, given that it hasn’t been officially announced. Gunfight fans can also look forward to solo and 3v3 variants coming at some stage in the future.
