Although Vacant and Shipment might be the two headline inclusions of the second batch of Modern Warfare Season One content, there is a third map which recently came to the game; Over Winter. A wintry redesign of the existing Gunfight map ‘Docks,’ the Modern Warfare Over Winter map brings some considerable changes to lighting and visibility in addition to its holiday theming.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Over Winter Map
If you’ve already played the Docks map in Gunfight, then you should have a good idea of the layout in the new Modern Warfare Over Winter map. However, while that map is set during the day, this one takes place on a foggy night. Although the festive decorations do help to provide some lighting outside, it’s still much darker than normal. As with all Gunfight maps, Over Winter is relatively small, with the two teams spawning in opposite one another.
The map’s central bridge, while exposed, offers the most direct route to your opponents. (As well as one of the clearer sightlines for long-range weapons.) With the recent addition of Gunfight O.S.P., weapon tactics may be a bit different on this map. Ordinarily, in regular Gunfight, players spawn with preset weapons and the mode changes loadouts every couple of rounds. In O.S.P., players start with nothing and must scavenge whatever they can find in the opening moments of the match. In the latter case, a knowledge of the map layout is a valuable asset; ensuring that you don’t waste time hunting for weaponry.
Over Winter isn’t the only new Gunfight map included in the latest batch of Season One content. While Shipment is also available for 6v6 multiplayer, that classic map also features in Gunfight, bringing the total of Season One Gunfight maps up to four alongside Atrium and Cargo.
