Ex-Xbox Executive Mike Ybarra Will Be Playing PS5

You would normally expect a former executive of a company who poured a lot of time and hard work into making its products the best to continue buying them after leaving the company. But in the case of ex-Xbox executive Mike Ybarra, that is not the case. Ybarra is going to be playing his next gen games on a PlayStation 5, not the Xbox Series X.

Why Mike Ybarra Will Choose PS5 Over the Next Xbox

Ybarra tweeted about his choice of next gen console:

He said, “PS5. Will play Xbox exclusives on PC. Wish they were all on PC! … Economic wise, for my profile it’s better for Xbox if I’m a Game Pass subscriber (which I will be for PC) vs. buying their console. I know that sounds weird, but it’s accurate. The Game Pass strategy is very smart. Who cares where you play, as long as you play in Xbox’s world.”

So, you can see that Ybarra basically just did the math. It isn’t that he has something against Xbox all of a sudden, it is just that he wants to save money. Since he can play Xbox exclusives on PC, he doesn’t see why he needs an Xbox Series X, but as that is not an option for PS5 exclusives, he does see a reason to purchase a PS5. Exclusives are a major draw for players toward one platform or another. Microsoft has made it clear by purchasing a ton of studios lately that it is dedicated to cranking out a lot of quality first party games. Meanwhile, Sony also announced that making first party games will remain a big priority during the PS5 generation. Looking for further updates, rumors and headlines concerning PlayStation 5?
