Tomorrow, the 11th of February, is the release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2; the game’s second major content release event since launch. Of course, the new Season includes a new Battle Pass, and it seems that Activision is using this as a way to market the game to new players. They have now announced the “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass Edition”; a new version of the game which comes with the Modern Warfare Season 2 Battle Pass and more included… technically.
What is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass Edition?
Only available digitally, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass Edition is launching alongside Season 2. At its core, the edition contains a digital copy of the base game, of course. However, it also includes the XRK Weapons Pack, three themed Operator Packs, and a custom in-game Tactical Knife. Oddly, and despite its name, it actually doesn’t include the Season 2 Battle Pass per se. Rather, it includes a lump sum of 3,000 Call of Duty points which purchasers can put towards the cost of the Battle Pass. If they’re content with just the free tiers of the Battle Pass, however, then the Points can be spent on other things.
The XRK Weapons Pack, bundled with the edition, was originally available as a pre-order bonus for the standard game. However, players also get three Operator bundles; the All Ghillied Up Pack, the Crew Expendable Pack, and the War Pig Pack. The custom knife is included on its own, rather than as part of an existing bundle or pack.
Of course, the Season 2 Battle Pass does include 100 tiers of content, and this new edition includes enough Call of Duty Points to purchase the Battle Pass Bundle. (A more expensive option which grants 20 Tier Skips.) However, a portion of the 100 tiers are free to all players, and these do include the two new weapons. Players unlock the Grau 5.56 assault rifle at Tier 15 and the Striker 45 SMG at Tier 31.
