What is the single most annoying thing about the PlayStation 4? One could argue that it is the problems involving cooling. The PS4 overheats at the drop of a hat, unfortunately. And because that is the case, the fan runs a whole lot. And when the fan runs, it does so loudly enough to interfere with your gaming experience. But there is good news on the next gen console front. The PS5 may not have such a noisy fan thanks to a superior PS5 cooling unit.
What Reporters Are Saying About the PS5 Cooling Unit
A Bloomberg article states, “Most of the components for the console have been locked down, the people said, including the cooling system, which is unusually expensive at a few dollars per unit. Typically, companies would spend less than a dollar, but Sony opted to lavish more on making sure heat dissipation from the powerful chips housed inside the console isn’t an issue.”
What we can take away from this is that Sony is well aware of the problems plaguing the PS4 when it comes to keeping the unit cool and quiet. In fact, they are investing a significant amount of money to try and ensure that this doesn’t become an issue with the PS5. If the cooling system is more efficient, then the fan will not need to run as much. Let’s also hope that the fan itself is simply quieter overall.
As we are looking forward to the PS5, we are also looking backward over the past generation. In fact, this is a great time to review some of the best FPS games which we got to enjoy on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
As we get closer to the release of the next gen consoles (hopefully still to take place during the planned holiday release window), we will keep you up to date on everything we learn about PS5 and the next Xbox. Follow along with our PlayStation news.
