The Call of Duty: Warzone Release Date Could be Just a Few Days Away

Call of Duty: Warzone, the repeatedly-leaked upcoming battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, could be launching within the next couple of days, if those leaks are to be believed. Warzone, which is technically Modern Warfare’s battle royale mode, is also expected to launch as a standalone, free-to-play game. If the leaks are to be believed, the Call of Duty: Warzone release date will be two days from now; the 10th of March.

The Call of Duty: Warzone Release Date

Although Activision has yet to officially announce Call of Duty: Warzone, the game has been exposed by a series of leaks, ranging from the game’s map to its mechanics to its cover art. The latest of these leaks, which comes from a Twitter user named Okami (who was the source for previous Call of Duty leaks which were proven true), adds a few details to those which had already emerged. These include, for example, that the game will be squads only. They also include an apparent release date; the 10th of March.

Call of Duty Warzone Release Date Could be Days Away 2

According to Okami, a trailer for Call of Duty: Warzone is already done, and will release; “on Thursday or on Monday”. Thursday has already passed, of course, so fans should keep an eye out tomorrow for a trailer. If one does indeed appear, then the game may very well launch on Tuesday. If not, it’s possible that the leak is incorrect. Even if it is correct, it’s possible that Activision may push the release date at short notice. After all, the company has released zero pre-launch promotional material for the game.

While the lack of marketing is unusual, especially for a major company like Activision, it does have precedent. Last year, Apex Legends launched out of the blue with no pre-launch marketing; a bold move from Respawn and EA that nonetheless paid off. It’s entirely possible that Activision is now looking to replicate that launch, relying on their existing audience to spread the word upon release. Of course, Warzone has been far leakier than Apex Legends. However, it is still likely to cause a splash when it does release, whether that proves to be the 10th or not.
