Another Round of Borderlands 3 Legendary Weapon Buffs Arrives

As the launch date for the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC approaches, Gearbox has been rolling out a number of smaller patches and hotfixes for Borderlands 3. In fact, both of the last two patches have included improvements to different Legendary weapons; suggesting that Gearbox is conducting what seems to be a gradual but expansive rebalancing. Now, a third round of Borderlands 3 Legendary Weapon buffs is here, affecting another 14 different guns.

The Latest Borderlands 3 Legendary Weapon Buffs

First up in the new round of Borderlands 3 hotfixes is the Boomer; one of several weapons that only received one change – a damage buff. Alongside that gun, the Hyperfocus XZ41, Linc, Nemesis, Ogre, One Pump Chump, and Roisen’s Thorns have all received a damage increase. Besides that change, however, these 7 weapons are all otherwise unchanged. However, the remainder of the weapons featured in this latest patch have received different individual tweaks.

Borderlands 3 Legendary Weapon Buffs in New March Patch

The Garcia, for example, hasn’t had a damage buff. However, its fire rate has gone up, along with the number of projectiles it fires per shot. The Hellfire, on the other hand, has had both a damage buff and a buff to damage dealt over time. Elsewhere, the Nimble Jack has received a damage buff alongside a new 100% Bonus Critical Damage effect. The Sawbar’s three projectiles will now split sooner after firing, in addition to dealing more damage, while the SkekSil specifically does more Projectile Damage now. Tankman’s Shield has had its maximum damage cap increased by 200% and the percent damage awarded per kill increased.

All of these changes, together with those in recent hotfixes, suggest that Gearbox is conducting a widespread rebalancing of the Borderlands 3 Legendary Weapons. While not every weapon is affected, the majority of those which are have gotten buffs, rather than nerfs. As such, it’s possible that Gearbox is seeing players over-using a small number of weapons which are thought to be more powerful than other options. This rebalancing seems to be making many more weapons viable options, ahead of the launch of Guns, Love, and Tentacles.
